R.J. Vandygriff is an award-winning singer, songwriter, poet, playwright, actor, and a real Texas cowboy. In 2004 he received the Will Rogers award for excellence, in 2012 the Wrangler Award from the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, and in 2013 the "Cowboy Keeper" Award from National Day of the Cowboy. R.J. had a small recurring role as "Ranger Mike" in the hit CBS series "Walker, Texas Ranger," and has appeared in numerous regional and national commercials. As a singer, he has shared the stage with the biggest names in country music, pop, and rock n' roll. "The Cowboy Ain't Dead Yet!" is a one-man musical comedy about the most fascinating character to ever ride across the pages of history: the American Cowboy. Joe Texas tells the story of the cowboy from the 1860s to today through songs, poems, and stories. One of the most successful one-man musicals ever, the show has begun its 26th year of touring-- truly a Texas original.
