Fort Worth Opera
The Fort Worth Opera Studio (FWO Studio) is a group of four young singers that tour elementary and middle-school programs across the state of Texas. The elementary program, Children’s Opera Theatre (COT) presents a choice of operas based on classic children’s stories. Productions feature colorful sets, costumes, and pre-performance TEKS study guides, teaching students even as they are entertained. COT productions have included "The Three Little Pigs," which promotes literacy and independent thinking, and "The Ugly Duckling," which demonstrates how individuality and differences make us stronger. The middle-school program, Opera Mythbusters, uses pop culture to challenge common stereotypes surrounding opera. This multimedia interactive program uses a combination of film, music videos, live performance, and interactive Q&A sessions. Mythbusters travels with microphone, speakers, overhead projector, and projector screen. All FWO Studio programs are accompanied on a portable electric keyboard by Principal Coach & Accompanist Steven Carey.
