Emanuelee "Outspoken" Bean

Outspoken Bean has been called a "Brilliant writer" (Robert Wilson), and a "phenomenal" (Ewan McGregor) "dynamic performer" (The Short Horn) whose "words hit with the sustained force of a young James Earl Jones" (Artnet Magazine). As a writer, performer, TEDx speaker, and emerging playwright, Bean has traveled the world performing his original works and inspiring young people to give voice to their own creativity. Ranked 9th in the 2013 Individual World Poetry Slam, Bean has worked with the Harris County Department of Education, Writers in the Schools, and Houston Grand Opera, among others. He’s the lead coach for the teen slam team Meta-Four Houston. Bean is a performance and slam poet who does original work. He also has a one-man show, "Converse," which is an interactive theatrical story-telling based on Bean, a heartbroken, outspoken, comedic, military brat. The dramatic and provocative show lures the audience into joining a long overdue conversation about mistakes, redemption, and the power of words.

Actress and zany comedian Martha Hannah performs as Maid Martha, Medieval Comedienne & Stand-Up Historian in "Tudors & Fleas & To Be or Not to Be," making the Middle Ages and Renaissance come alive! Her hilarious, irreverent look at village life and the Tudor reign is a unique show of medieval jokes, songs, ghost stories, multimedia, and audience participation, accompanied by recorded and live period music. Projected medieval images and art along with "The Ghost of Hampton Court" book illustrations on a stage set with Medieval banners complete the look of the production. History In Person

Recipient of the 2008 Texas Council for the Social Studies "Friend of Social Studies Education" award, Bill Perryman is known throughout Texas for his historical portrayals of heroic figures in Texas and American history. Now in its seventeenth year, History In Person continues to inspire young audiences. An award-winning teacher, Mr. Perryman holds a master's degree in elementary education from Texas State University, administrator/mid-management certification from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and has earned graduate studies coursework hours in historical research through the University of Virginia. Mr. Perryman is co-author of the newly published children's book, "From Lanterns to Liberty - The Story of Midnight Rider Paul Revere." Each forty-minute school performance by Mr. Perryman features an historical portrayal of a pivotal character in American history augmented by music, sound effects, archival images, and maps to create a multi-sensory experience. Programs include: Adventure on the Underground Railroad- The Stories of Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman; Benjamin Franklin; Sam Houston; Thomas Jefferson; Meriwether Lewis; Abraham Lincoln; Paul Revere; George Washington; and William B. Travis at the Alamo - 1836!

Ruby Nelda Perez is considered one of the most talented and acclaimed Chicana theatre performance artists in the nation. She is recognized for her solo performances, where she enchants, captivates, and delights audiences with her insightful portrayals of unforgettable characters. For over 30 years her performances have taken her from labor camps and prisons, to such prestigious venues as Lincoln Center, and the Whitney Museum in New York. In 1999, the San Antonio Theatre Coalition awarded her with the Living Legend Award and in 2008 she was designated an NEA American Masterpieces touring artist. Ruby Nelda tours with two one-woman shows entitled "Dona Rosita’s Jalapeno Kitchen" and "Rosita’s Day of the Dead." These two bilingual comedies have been called "irresistible and irreverent." Surrounded by her piles of chilies, Ruby Nelda Perez dishes out plenty of laughs with some philosophical advice on the side. Rollicking laughter, heartfelt stories, and cultural pride ensue as Rosita cooks up flavorful food and stories.

Don Sanders

Don Sanders is a singer, songwriter, storyteller, recording artist, and novelist. Following early recognition as a recording artist, Don turned towards theater, acting, translating plays (Spanish to English), and creating one-man shows. He currently performs for schools, theaters, and festivals. An honorary board member of Kerrville Music Festival, he helped establish listener-sponsored KPFT radio, and has served on the board of Tejas Storytelling Association. "Cancionero," a coming of age novel, "Bayou Song," recorded and released by Lyle Lovett, and the CD release of "Tourist Revisited" are among recent achievements. “Wrenching Changes," a stage memoir, is next up. Touring offerings for children include: Sing & Move (interactive songs & rhymes for younger students); Cuentos y canciones (Latin American folktales & folksongs, bilingual); Sourdough Cowboy (authentic stories & songs of the cowboys); Siempre Listo, and Ever Clever (more Latin American lore, bilingual). For adults, Don can perform Wrenching Changes: life in the performing arts (a one man show of story and song).

Working for over three decades in theatre, and performing extensively for the last 15 years in the upper Midwest, actor/comedienne/writer Charlene Hudgins has returned to Texas with her acclaimed, tour-de-force one-woman show "Charlene Shakespeare." Her passion for Shakespeare stems from the first production she saw as a child, and grew from there. She has spent extensive time at the Globe Theatre in London and Stratford-Upon-Avon, Shakespeare's hometown, and she has been in or directed many of his works. She has been a comedy writer/performer in several states, has won numerous regional acting awards, and has performed in several solo shows. "Charlene Shakespeare" takes the audience on a visually-stunning, multimedia, interactive journey through Charlene's own Shakespearean repertoire. Classic monologues and hilarious anecdotes from working on Shakespeare's plays combine with snippets on history and literature, creating a whole historical and theatrical experience. Charlene's mission statement, "taking the fear out of Shakespeare," has audience members commenting enthusiastically, "I never knew Shakespeare could be so fun!" and "this was so perfect for my students!"

Tim Tingle

A member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Tim Tingle performs Native American stories for all ages, with music on his cedar flute and whaleskin drum. He has been a featured storyteller at festivals in forty-three states, including five appearances at the National Storytelling Festival. In June 2011, Tingle spoke at the Library of Congress and presented his first performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. The author of twelve award-winning books, Tingle offers a variety of writing workshops. In 2012, Tingle was inducted into the Texas Institute of Letters, an honor reserved for Texas’ most renowned authors. Tingle’s repertory of 400-plus stories includes, for elementary school ages: "Grandma Spider Brings the Fire;" "Coyote and the Rock," a hilarious Trickster tale; "The Bowl," a frightfully funny Navajo story; and (from Tingle’s books) "Crossing Bok Chitto" and "Danny Blackgoat." For young adults and adult audiences, Tim can perform stories such as: "La Llorona," "Trail of Tears," and (from Tingle’s books) "How I Became a Ghost," and "No Name." He also offers the full-length theater piece, "Clarence Carnes–Boarding School to Alcatraz."

R.J. Vandygriff

R.J. Vandygriff is an award-winning singer, songwriter, poet, playwright, actor, and a real Texas cowboy. In 2004 he received the Will Rogers award for excellence, in 2012 the Wrangler Award from the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, and in 2013 the "Cowboy Keeper" Award from National Day of the Cowboy. R.J. had a small recurring role as "Ranger Mike" in the hit CBS series "Walker, Texas Ranger," and has appeared in numerous regional and national commercials. As a singer, he has shared the stage with the biggest names in country music, pop, and rock n' roll. "The Cowboy Ain't Dead Yet!" is a one-man musical comedy about the most fascinating character to ever ride across the pages of history: the American Cowboy. Joe Texas tells the story of the cowboy from the 1860s to today through songs, poems, and stories. One of the most successful one-man musicals ever, the show has begun its 26th year of touring-- truly a Texas original. R.J. also offers a Cowboy Concert program, a concert/lecture on the life of the cowboy.

Melissa Waddy-Thibodeaux

This professional performing artist and instructor has over 35 years of experience touring throughout the US and abroad. Melissa Waddy-Thibodeaux is sought after for historical performances which teach history, motivate, inspire, and promote literacy. She also works with incarcerated youth in Harris County teaching theatrics and historical re-enactment. Ms. Waddy-Thibodeaux is a co-author of "Places of the Underground Railroad" (Greenwood Press, 2010). One of her programs, "The Resurrection of Harriet Tubman in Escape to Freedom," travels worldwide, providing a historical account of this woman’s life story and showing how it relates to today. This national touring artist explores the lives of women in history and how their accomplishments made a difference in our country's history. Ms. Waddy-Thibodeaux portrays various women via costuming and theatrical storytelling techniques to teach US history. Harriet Tubman, Mrs. Rosa Parks, Ms. Lavinia Bell of Texas, "The Story of Bessie Coleman," and "The Buffalo Soldier Female Story" are all available for classroom and auditorium presentations, festivals, churches, libraries, and museums across the country.

Pat Hazell is Chief Creative Officer of Sweetwood Productions in Austin. Showtime declared Hazell one of the five funniest people in America.
