Call for Entry: Visual Arts: Mystery Build Art Challenge

THE CHALLENGE:

Create a work of art using ONLY the materials provided in a Mystery Build Kit.

THE TWIST:

You don’t know what’s inside!

OVERVIEW:

Contestants must create an original work of art using only the materials provided in a Mystery Build Kit.

Contestants upload photos or videos of their creation and compete for $15,000 in cash prizes.

Mystery Build Kits are available for $36 at www.mysterybuild.com.

You can expect to find some common sculpting materials like wood, clay, metal, fiber, and a few surprises. The kits are 12″ x 9″ x 3″ and contain 5 lbs. of materials. All 2013 Mystery Build Kits are identical. You can enter individually or as a team, and you can enter as many times as you want.

THE THEME:   “Re-Invent a Work of Art”

You may interpret the theme any way you wish. Perhaps a re-creation of a famous painting in the form of a sculpture, or a new perspective or hidden angle on a familiar work of art. You will specify what work of art you are re-inventing on the submission form. Any work of art can be used, in any medium from painting, to film, music, architecture, photography, sculpture, culinary arts etc. The entry should not be a replica of the work but a re-interpretation, continuation, or unique version of the original artwork.
