DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
This position requires an individual experienced in building and maintaining key relationships focused on helping to sustain the organization through our annual fund and capital campaign. The prime candidate is entrepreneurial, results-oriented, and deeply satisfied by their work to develop, cultivate, and maintain collaborative and strategic relationships with granting organizations, corporate sponsors, individual donors, members, patrons, clients, colleagues, and artists.
● Advise and plan major fundraising campaigns and sustainability strategies
● Manage and execute fundraising for Art House Dallas building project and comprehensive campaign
● Assess, advise, monitor, and report regularly on the progress of the strategic development plan and associated annual development calendar
● Regularly identify and cultivate prospective donors and directly solicit for support; ensure high levels of donor satisfaction through timely responses and deeper engagement programs
● Attend regular meetings with donors and prospective donors
● Oversee the annual grant schedule: research, organize and assist in writing grants and
procuring grant writers as required to broaden our opportunities as grant recipients;
maintain records, prepare summary reports and manage grant implementation as
necessary
● Manage all related special events with AHD staff, including the annual fall fundraising
event and micro events throughout the year
● Develop and oversee the creation and production of all materials used to support AHD
campaigns
● Serve as staff liaison to board conversations on development and fundraising, prepare
and distribute meeting materials and other correspondence

REQUIREMENTS
● Strong interpersonal and writing skills
● Have knowledge and experience in fundraising techniques, particularly major gift
fundraising
● Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and other volunteers
● Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships
● Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls
● Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals
● Ensure that data related to prospects and donors is recorded and tracked in electronic and hard copy files, manage campaign record keeping, evaluate progress towards goals, prepare periodic reports on fundraising and present to the Board and senior staff, recommend revisions to the fundraising plan, as needed, to meet goals
● Ensure donor acknowledgment, stewardship and public recognition, as appropriate
● Deliver fundraising “ask” as appropriate
