Main Street Theater provides theater experiences for all ages. Founded in 1975, our MainStage produces professional, intimate, literary plays for adults; our Theater for Youth produces professional, engaging productions based on children’s literature for families and school groups, both in-house and on tour around Texas; and we offer Education and Outreach programs on-site and at satellite locations around the Greater Houston area for youth aged 4 – high school. We work out of 2 new facilities: our Rice Village home on Times. Blvd. and as part of the MATCH (Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston) on Main Street. MST reaches over 150,000 patrons yearly, the majority of whom are children. MST’s MainStage work is known nationally. Its Arts Education & Integration Program is now one of the mostly highly sought after programs in the city.
MST has a tightly knit staff of 16, many of whom have worked for MST for over 10 years and many of whom have multiple roles in the organization. For the past six years, one person has held the position of Director of Marketing and Development. As our organization and three programs have grown significantly, MST is now splitting this role into two positions so that both directors can focus solely on their departments. Specifically, MST is creating a dedicated Director of Development position to grow contributed income for the organization. All three programs are at capacity regarding earned income, and MST must increase its contributed income.
MST currently has a part-time Development Associate/Special Events Coordinator who assists the Development Director as needed; processes donations and gift letters; and spearheads the logistics of special events.
