The Development Officer position will be responsible for managing a portfolio of 65-90 individual and corporate donors and prospects with the capacity to give between $1,000 and $10,000. This position will also be responsible for managing SCENE – a giving society created for young professionals who are passionate about the Alley and its programs. This position will be part of the Individual Giving team and will work closely with the Director of Individual Giving, Gift Officers, and the Research Analyst.

Responsible for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of portfolio of 65-90 individual and corporate donors and prospects with the capacity to give between $1,000 and $10,000 annually.
Manage all aspects of SCENE giving society, including guiding the steering committee, growing the membership base, and handling all associated SCENE events.
Work with Director of Individual Giving to cultivate monthly giving donors and grow monthly giving program.
Work with Director of Individual Giving and Research Analyst to identify new prospects and major gift donors.
Work evening and weekend patron events with the intent to build relationships with Alley Theatre donors. Events include Greenroom duty, Center stage dinners, insider patron events, and rehearsals.
Be an active participant in a team-based fundraising department and provide additional assistance to other development staff members when possible.

Minimum of three years of experience in fundraising within the non-profit sector including direct solicitation experience, as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
Excellent communication skills with demonstrable ability to prepare and present both formal written and oral presentations.
Requires strong collaboration skills in order to work effectively across the organization and function consistently as a highly valued and high performing team player within the Development department and the organization.
A demonstrated ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Broad knowledge of individual giving fundraising principles (i.e. cultivation, solicitation and stewardship).
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy
Flexibility to work patron and special events that occur on the evenings and weekends
Bachelor’s Degree required.

Reports To: Director of Individual Giving
Status: Salary-Exempt
Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
Schedule: Weekdays with some evenings and weekends
