Director of Education

Part-time (20 hours per week)
Salary: $16,000-$18,000

Reporting to the Executive Artistic Director (EAD), the Director of Education is responsible for planning, administrating, implementing and supervising all education programs and curriculum for Metamorphosis. The appropriate candidate will be provided equitable latitude and ample responsibility for fulfilling this position, with a goal towards the post becoming full time with the growth and capacity of the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Develop After School Program
o Create a semester-long theater curriculum for at-risk youth. The curriculum will use Theatre of the Oppressed and Rainbow of Desire by Augusto Boal as its foundation.
o Working (in coordination with the EAD) to secure partnership(s)/ and resources for the program.
o Promote and recruit potential students for program.
o Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations, schools, and juvenile justice centers.
o Organize student performances at the end of each semester.
Manage and Implement After School Program
o Teach all appropriate curriculum and programming at least 3 times per week after school.
o Hire and manage all part-time teaching artists.
o Act as Metamorphosis’ liaison to the juvenile justice department, schools and other organizations.
Manage and Implement Community Workshops
o Establish engagement with community partners and maintain strong professional relationships with all partnering organizations.
o Design workshop curriculum.
o Facilitate workshops within our diverse Dallas community (including but not limited to youth populations, communities of color, homeless and refugee populations, bi-lingual communities, incarcerated and LGBTQ)
Other Miscellaneous Duties as Needed

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Strong interpersonal communications skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work nights and weekends, as required.
Basic budget management skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of the work of Augusto Boal strongly preferred. If no knowledge, an eagerness and readiness to learn
Commitment to diversity and inclusion and working with marginalized community groups.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
Curriculum development experience for arts education.
Experience working in theater.
Experience with community engagement.
Experience working as a teaching artist (minimum 2 years experience).
Bachelor’s Degree required (in theater or education is highly desired).
