Houston Arts Alliance (HAA) is seeking proposals from Houston-based artists, arts professionals and/or organizations for the creation and implementation of responsive arts projects in three Houston Parks (Hermann, MacGregor and Mason ) along Brays Bayou in the southeast portion of the city.

These three projects are part of a large initiative called Bayou Trails that is funded by a National Endowment for the Arts Our Town grant. The Our Town grant program supports creative placemaking projects that help to transform communities into lively, beautiful and resilient places with the arts at their core.

Bayou Trails serves three neighborhoods and their signature parks along Brays Bayou. This bayou corridor traverses the Latino-identified East End, the largely African-American Southeast sector and the culturally-mixed Museum District.
Throughout winter 2016 and spring 2017, the three participating communities engaged in a series of convenings during which residents, neighbors and other individuals developed project concepts to be realized in the communities’ respective parks. Though the project concepts are distinct, all three aim to highlight the unique history, environment and/or spirit of the parks and their surrounding neighborhoods.

To animate these community-driven concepts, HAA is calling for Bayou Trails proposals from interested artists, arts professionals and/or organizations through an open Request for Proposal (RFP) process that began July 3, 2017. Proposals for each of these $45,000-$50,000 projects must be received by August 3, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. (CST). Applicants should submit a proposal in response to only one of the three Bayou Trails RFPs.
