We are looking for a Master Teaching Artist in Houston, TX, to join our hard-working, mission-driven national Shutterbugs team. Pablove’s crew, culture, and environment are the heartbeat of our organization. Our staff is committed to quality, love-filled programming. The Shutterbugs Team is directed by Pablove’s strategic plan, a culture of philanthropy, and vision: helping kids with cancer live – a love-filled life today, and a cancer-free life tomorrow. We are looking for a detail-oriented, flexible, and smart addition to the department who will ensure Pablove’s overall effectiveness by providing killer support for the organization’s big picture goals.


This is a year-long contract position divided between two 6 month contracts. Contract timelines are from (1) January – June 2019 and (2) July – December 2019. Master Teaching Artists will receive a $5,000 stipend per contract totaling $10,000 for the year.


This is a contract position, reporting to the Pablove Shutterbugs Senior Program Manager. The Master Teaching Artist will have the following responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Collaborate with the Pablove Shutterbugs Senior Program Manager to oversee program efforts and ensure its alignment with Pablove’s strategic plan
Become an active participant of our MTA national community – including attending professional development trainings and engagement opportunities and participate in a 1 – 2 day MTA national convening
Join the local Friends of Pablove group to continue growing the Shutterbugs program in your local community
Be a Pablove brand ambassador by assisting with media opportunities, community events + maintaining relationships with local community partners
Recruit and train volunteers to become teaching assistants
Recruit students to participate in the program by tabling at local partner hospitals
Secure a creative learning space outside of the hospital for children to attend class and an artful field trip to continue student learning
Download and review photos, prepare classroom materials, delegate tasks to teaching assistants
Track student progress, attendance, correspond with participating families prior to, during, and immediately after the program
Assist with the local student exhibition by helping locate a gallery space, frame student photos, work with an installer and deliver photos to partner hospitals when the show is complete


Mastery of manual and digital photography techniques, relative computer programs and applications, printing, image editing, lighting and composition, portfolio development, and professional exhibition standards
One year experience working with people with developmental disabilities
Program administration or project management


Familiar with the local area, with ties to artist communities
Access to personal devices including phone and computer; correspondence with families, hospitals, community partners, and Pablove national office is required for this position
Enthusiastic, flexible, and a great sense of humor
Must pass a criminal background check
