The Assistant Production Manager assists with the daily operations and administration of the technical and production department. Working closely with the Director of Production they provide an essential communication link among production team members all major functional areas of the company, and colleague organizations as appropriate. By coordinating technical and production logistics for mainstage and cross-departmental projects, this individual ensures HGO’s high production standards are met and maintained for all productions and events.

• Assist the Director of Production in planning and managing technical and production logistics for mainstage and cross-departmental projects, facilitating communication and coordinating technical/production department resources and requirements to ensure their success.
• Working with the Operations Manager and Rehearsal, Planning and Artists services, advise on the creation of and maintain Technical and Production schedules and calendars.
• Research, gather and disseminate future season production information for planning and budgeting purposes.
• Maintain and disseminate current and future season crew schedules, working within the parameters of the collective bargaining agreement to plan in the most efficient manner.
• Administer HGO production rentals (outgoing and incoming):
o Field and track inquiries
o Prepare contracts
o Assist in forecast production revenues for budgeting cycles
o Manage technical/production documentation for production rental files, creating new files for new productions and updating existing production files when appropriate
• Working with the technical office, wig and costume departments, facilitate shipping logistics for mainstage productions and production rentals.
• Manage the technical/production archiving of all productions, establishing a standard checklist for all departments, tracking the process for each production, and working with department heads to ensure that each production is finalized by the end of that production’s season
• Work with the Director of Production to create and implement new policies and procedures within the technical/production department to improve efficiency for the ongoing operations.
• Advise on and support all Safety matters, setting a positive culture of safety within the working environment.

Bachelor’s degree in theatrical production or equivalent job experience. One to three years’ experience in a professional performing arts organization; previous experience in opera production preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs. Familiarity with reading/writing contract language a plus. Availability for occasional evening and weekend work required.

Candidate should be a highly motivated, independent self-starter with the ability to process numerous elements and information within a brisk day-to-day pace. Must be able to pay extremely close attention to detail and to maintain the highest level of accuracy while juggling multiple tasks. Should be a creative problem-solver with strong verbal and written communication skills.
