ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Angelina Arts Alliance seeks to present a diverse and comprehensive selection of performing arts events which represent the entire community and serves both children and family audiences. In its 21-year history, the Angelina Arts Alliance has presented Premier Performing Arts at the Temple Theater, located on the campus of Angelina College (a two-year community college with over 6000 students), and the Pines Theater, a beautifully restored art deco theater located in historic downtown Lufkin.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Angelina Arts Alliance reports to the volunteer Board of Directors who meet monthly. The CEO is responsible for the consistent achievement of the organization’s mission and its programmatic and financial objectives. Current staff positions include a full-time Operations Manager – Temple Theater, a full-time Box Office/Business Manager, a full-time Operations Manager – Pines Theater, a part-time Box Office Assistant & Events Coordinator, a part-time Marketing and a Community Outreach Coordinator.

ABOUT THE COMMUNITY
Lufkin is in the heart of Texas Forest Country and serves as a hub for twelve surrounding counties. The city is a regional center for medical, retail and business activity, enjoying the freedom of life in a community environment with connections to major metropolitan areas. Located at the intersection of four major highways, Lufki is 120 miles northeast of Houston, 80 miles southeast of Tyler, 120 miles southwest of Shreveport and 180 miles southeast of Dallas. In additional to cultural arts, visitors enjoy a broad range of outdoor recreational activities with easy access to river, lakes and state and national forests.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Position Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer will be an enthusiastic, inclusive leader and arts advocate who can work well in collaboration with the Board, volunteers, other arts and culture organizations, the City of Lufkin leadership and community stakeholders to support, develop and execute programs which fulfill the mission of the Angelina Arts Alliance. The CEO will be responsible for management and development of staff, hiring, fund development, grant writing, budgeting and strategic planning. This individual will maintain a professional profile in the community and regionally and continue to uphold the outstanding legacy of the Angelina Arts Alliance.

Staff Development and Management
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the personnel management and overall operational success of the organization.
1. Determine staffing requirements for organizational management and program delivery.
2. Be responsible for the recruitment, employment, training, and release of all personnel, both paid staff and volunteers.
3. Supervise staff using a performance management process which includes monitoring performance on an on-going basis and an annual performance review.
4. Oversee the implementation of human resource policies, procedures and practices.
5. Maintain a climate that attracts, motivates and retains a diverse staff of energetic, enthusiastic, top-quality people.

Budget and Finance
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for developing and maintaining sound financial practices and will oversee fund development activities.
1. Ensure that the organization establishes and maintains sound financial practices.
2. Provide general oversight of financial/fiscal functions of the organization and ensure the organization operates within budgetary guidelines.
3. Work with the accountant, the Board Treasurer, and the Board in preparing a budget and providing regular financial reports to the Board.
4. Work with the Board of Directors to ensure that adequate funds are available to permit the organization to carry out its work, through donor identification and cultivation, fund-raising events, grant-writing, and other opportunities.

Internal and External Communications
The Chief Executive Officer will oversee all communication strategies to ensure excellence in branding, messaging, ticket sales and related development activities.
1. Serve as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for the organization.
2. Communicate with stakeholders and collaborate with community leadership and organizations to promote the work of the organization within the broad spectrum of the arts.
3. Ensure the Board is kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and important factors influencing it.
4. Work with the Board, staff, volunteers and auxiliary groups to develop and expand the organization’s visibility and brand recognition through public and media relations, print and web-based programs and other marketing activities.
5. Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups, the media, sponsors, performers, and other organizations.

Board Administration
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for developing and maintaining positive and productive board relations and utilize board committees to advance the organization.
1. Serve as an ex-officio member of each standing Board committee.
2. Jointly with the Board of Directors, ensure the organization has a long-range strategy that achieves its mission and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress.
3. Provide leadership in the development of policies and program, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and/or staff and carry out plans and policies authorized by the Board.
4. Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

Program Development
The Chief Executive Officer will drive the artistic vision and direction of the organization and ensure that all programs fulfill the mission to enrich, entertain and educate.
1. Oversee the planning, promotion and evaluation of innovative program services and practices that fulfill the organization’s mission.
2. Work to ensure high quality programs and customer satisfaction.
3. Seek opportunities to serve additional constituents in the community.
4. Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the fields of the arts education and multi-disciplinary community arts programs and the future cultural arts district.

Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree preferred.
– 5-7 years of experience of leadership experience in nonprofit arts, local or state foundations, grant-making organization or similar field.
– Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to make presentations.
– Experience working with boards.
– Competency with standard computer applications and equipment.

Compensation
A competitive compensation package commensurate with experience includes medical insurance, short-term , disability and group life insurance. Retirement benefits are provided through a voluntary 401(k) for all regular full-time employees. Angelina Arts Alliance provides 1.25 personal days/month at the outset employment.
