The Director of Development & Community Relations is responsible for leading all corporate and resource development including corporate relations, donor relations, fundraising events, and grants. Responsibilities also include increasing brand awareness through intentional marketing and communication plans including public relations, media relations, online giving, digital communications, social media engagement, and storytelling. Measurable outcomes include: achieving designated financial and participant goals through team and individual fundraising, corporate canvassing and community partnerships, as well as increasing Young Audiences awareness and visibility in the community.
Essential Functions
Development
Plan and coordinate all aspects of special event fundraising activities including, but not limited to canvassing all event sponsorships, overseeing planning of logistics, and coordinating event volunteers
Manage a prospect list to include stewardship and solicitation of current and new event sponsors
Recruit and coordinate volunteer committees to secure event auction items and assist with event execution
Source and negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers for events
In coordination with the Executive Director, develop event budgets during the planning process through the completion of each event
Utilize non-profit donor software to manage data, communication & reporting
Cultivate strategies for potential new donors and maintain relationships with current donors
Meet donor needs by providing strategies and opportunities that raise revenue and other resources while building trust and benefiting both parties
Develop a pipeline of event and campaign donors as potential major gift partners
Create monthly reports to meet donation goal objectives
Oversee the grant process; research/prospecting, foundation relationship management, proposal writing, reporting and accurate record keeping
Generate gift and donor acknowledgement letters
Research and develop partnerships for third party fundraising events and community development events
Attend trainings and conferences as appropriate
Community Relations
Create clear simple messaging using examples, stories, and community information that are relevant and resonate with donors, volunteers, and partners
Develop and implement a comprehensive year-round communication plan to keep supporters and partners informed and engaged
Develop and implement social marketing, public and media relations, website content, and brand management
Update and manage the organization’s website regularly
Manage social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and others, with posts relevant to artist school visits, upcoming events, and donor interest
Create and manage a monthly newsletter using Constant Contact
Create and send press releases as needed
Increase Young Audiences visibility by creating and maintaining relationships with media outlets (i.e., KETK and Tyler Today)
Keep all logos and ads (anthology, catalog, and annual report) current
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management or Administration, or four year degree with equivalent field experience
Comprehensive knowledge in nonprofit fundraising and marketing
Knowledgeable and familiar with grant writing processes, from beginning to end
High level of written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, computer skills, and collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
Progressive thinker, understanding philanthropic trends and best practices in donor-centered fundraising
Proficient Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
Familiar with donor databases
Ability to supervise volunteer staff
Flexible and adaptable to working in team settings, diverse settings, and independently
Acts with integrity, respect, humility and inclusion while being proactive and self directive
Other Information
This is a full time position that requires tact, high professional standards and the ability to work with a variety of people from various backgrounds. This job is also open to other duties as necessary to effectively stay mission driven and successful.
The physical demands of this job include bending, stooping, reaching, sitting, loading, lifting office and event materials (up to 40 lbs.) Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
