About the Job:
As Grants, Technology and Research Manager, you provide dynamic and forward-looking leadership for the agency’s grants and business operations teams. You will serve as agency’s lead data and information analyst and research strategist. You will direct all aspects of the agency’s technology use. You will manage all phases of the agency’s state and federal awards’ processes.
You will bring grants experience and demonstrated capacity to perform the key functions of the work at a high level: managing the grants-making cycle for multiple programs; engaging in complex data, business, system and technology analysis and implementation; adherence to and communication of federal and state policies; and a commitment to fostering a culture of innovation. You will possess enthusiasm for public service to the arts through an agency of state government and an ability to work collaboratively with a broad and diverse network of people.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Vision and Strategy
Works alongside the Programs, Grants and Services Department to visualize and operationalize all phases of the agency’s granting cycles to provide a positive stakeholder-facing experience and to meet agency goals.
Works with colleagues across different agencies to envision and implement a culture of continual improvement in the agency’s grants and business operational functions.
Continually assesses and advocates for technology, systems or process adjustments that improve the stakeholder-facing experience and meet agency goals.
Works with colleagues and external stakeholders to develop and implement data and research priorities that lead to a strengthened arts and cultural sector in the state.
Serves as an information and data resource to internal and external stakeholders on the state’s arts and cultural sector.
Ensures all phases of the grants and business operations and technology meet agency goals.
Ensures compliance with all state and federal programmatic, operational, and financial standards, processes, and policies.
Provides training to external stakeholders on state and federal programmatic, operational, and financial standards, processes, and policies.
Manages all phases of the award process for federal, interagency and other external grants and funding agreements.
Budgets and monitors expenditures and follows internal controls and agency goals.
Maintains high levels of organizational and time management skills; demonstrates ability to initiate, plan, coordinate, and implement projects and services and consistently meet deadlines.

What You’ll Need for Success:
Bachelor’s Degree in in nonprofit management, public administration, community development, economic development, arts, arts education, planning, business administration, arts administration, or closely allied field.
Master’s Degree in a related field may be substituted for experience
Work experience in municipal government, educational institutions, public agencies or nonprofit organizations.
Familiarity with the grants-making process.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Proficiency in learning and adapting to new technologies.
Experience in researching, planning, developing, evaluating, and implementing goal-driven strategies.
Capacity for gaining knowledge and skills in program evaluation, research planning, and information synthesis.
Creative thinking skills and the ability to offer new ideas and approaches.
Demonstrated ability to bring consensus to priorities and timelines with constituent/stakeholder groups.
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and engage gracefully and respectfully with a wide range of people.
Capacity for change management and the requisite interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated strong emotional intelligence.
Demonstrated ability to be a consistent, accessible, and positive manager with the ability to act decisively and set boundaries as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
