Information | APPLICATION DEADLINE MONDAY, JULY 11, 2022 The DiverseWorks Project Freeway Fellowship Program is for artists and community activists interested in presenting socially-engaged creative practices in the neighborhoods where they work and live. The Project Freeway Fellowship was developed in response to the rapid growth and diversification of the city of Houston and DiverseWorks’ desire to support innovative artists’ projects that engage all Houstonians, especially in neighborhoods outside of the city center. Interested participants must live in the Greater Houston Area, with a preference for individuals living outside of the city center. Fellows must be able to attend weekly program meetings and activities from August 15-October 15, 2022, and present their project before June 30, 2023. Fellows will meet with DW staff and other artists, activists, and arts professionals as part of the program to develop their artistic process, create new partnerships, and learn how to sustain the arts in their community. The Fellowship supports the development and presentation of a site specific artwork, performance, public program, or workshop within each Fellow’s neighborhood. Two applicants (individuals or collectives) will be selected as Fellows and awarded a $3,500 honorarium, marketing and production support, and a materials and equipment budget.
