The Art Center of Waco seeks enthusiastic teaching artists for summer art camps. Students range from entering 1st graders through high school students. Teachers will be assigned to either the lower elementary (1st-3rd grade) camps, upper elementary (4th-6th grade camps), or teen camps (7th-12 graders). We have morning (9-noon) or afternoon (1-4 pm) camps. Each camp will have approx 15-20 students, take place 3 hours a day with a break 1.5 hours into class. Camps occur Monday through Thursday. We are happy to work with teaching artists who can do just one or both sets of camps (morning and/or afternoon) for a week, and have a variety of topics from which to choose. Art camps in previous years have incorporated painting, printmaking, drawing, cartooning, collage, sculpture/ and 3D methods, fibers/textiles. Selected teaching artists will be responsible for their own project ideas. Supplies are provided by The Art Center of Waco. Teaching artists will have volunteers and and a counselor in the room with them to assist as needed. Teaching Artists earn $300 per camp session taught per week. Teaching Artists may teach up to 2 sessions per week (morning and afternoon) and earn up to $600 per week. Teaching artists may sign up for multiple weeks as well. We will work with your schedule to find the best slot(s) for you.

Required Tangible Qualities:

Art training (or demonstrated experience in the field)

Experience working with children (preferably teaching/mentoring/leadership)

Preferred bachelor’s degree or higher in the visual arts

Be available 8:30 a.m. to noon OR 1pm-4 p.m. for at least ONE week of camps. (We host five weeks of camps beginning on June 8 and ending on July 9. Not all teachers teach every week. Morning or afternoon camp sessions available.)

Pass a criminal background check (ACW will provide).
