We will be accepting submissions for our next Open Call from August 1 through October 31, 2025. We will be programming for each of our gallery spaces in our Winter 2027 (January-April) and Summer 2027 (May-July) exhibition cycles, totalling six exhibitions.

OPEN CALL proposals are reviewed by the ARTIST ADVISORY BOARD made up of artists and arts professionals from the region. Sophie Asakura is ALH’s current Artist Advisory Board chair. The proposal selection process is highly competitive as Art League Houston receives numerous submissions each year. Artists are selected on overall quality and innovation. The Artist Advisory Board selection process will take place between November 2025 - January 2026. Once selections have been made, all artists will be notified by email and updated on the status of their proposal (by the end of January 2026). Selected exhibitions will be programmed into the 2027 Winter and Summer cycles. Please do not call or email to inquire about the results.

The Hopper Prize is now accepting entries for our Fall 2025 artist awards.

For this open call, we have increased prize amounts to $4,500.

The fee to apply for the prize is $40.

We are offering 2 awards of $4,500 and 4 awards of $1,000 to artists & photographers worldwide working in all media.

In total, 6 artists will receive unrestricted cash awards totaling $13,000.

Our open call provides you with a direct path to get your work in front of an international community of curators, artists, gallerists, and arts administrators. In addition to grants, 30 artists will be selected for a shortlist. Additional exposure is available via our online Journal as well as our Instagram feed, currently reaching an audience over 150k.
