Position Summary
We have entered a period in which we are accelerating the growth of our audience and budget. We are looking for a highly organized, systems-oriented individual who is ambitious, entrepreneurial, and eager to help create and maintain a comprehensive fundraising program for Glasstire. This is an opportunity to build your fundraising career while meeting interesting people in the Texas art world and beyond.

Reporting to and in partnership with the Publisher, the Development Manager will spearhead fundraising efforts, including events, individual and corporate contributions, and grants. The Manager will maintain a portfolio of active donors and prospects. This is a new position at Glasstire, and as such the Manager will be tasked with designing and implementing sustainable fundraising processes within the organization.

The Development Manager must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. They should have the skills to research, process, learn and adapt. They are comfortable solving problems in a small nonprofit organization where all hands are typically on deck.

This position is based in Houston. Some travel is required to other Texas cities. Occasional attendance at evening and weekend art events is required, and should be something the Manager enjoys doing.

In this job, the Development Manager will acquire new or enhance existing skills relating to:
– Strategic relationship building and stewardship
– Executing special events
– Managing projects on a large scale
– Networking with sponsors, prospects, and other stakeholders
– Stemmons, our enterprise operations platform (EOP)

• Develop and execute Glasstire’s annual fundraising plan, in close coordination with the Publisher and board of directors
• Secure financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations
• Develop and execute communication strategies for funders, including correspondence, proposals, tracking and reports
• Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors
• Create and execute a strategy for a large sustained base of annual individual donors
• Lead the planning and execution of special events, working with patrons, vendors, volunteers and artists
• Manage the grant calendar and research grant opportunities. Assist the Publisher in grant writing.
In addition, the Development Manager will be expected to:
• Partner with the Publisher in essential internal leadership activities
• Foster a collaborative culture, participating in budget planning and strategic forecasting
• Report to the board of directors at 5 annual meetings

This position reports to the Publisher.

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum of 3 years’ prior relevant work experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and a self-starter. The Development Manager is expected to manage their own schedule to fulfill their responsibilities.
• Proven ability to work with efficiency, flexibility, and good humor
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people: junior and senior, for-profit and nonprofit, and from diverse backgrounds
• Solid Office computer skills. Working familiarity with Quickbooks, Salesforce and Adobe Creative Suite a plus.

This is a full-time position. Salary is commensurate with experience. Glasstire offers a flexible work schedule with some opportunities for working from home.
