Offerings include performances by the Jamal Mohamed Ensemble (between 2 and 6 members) featuring virtuoso musicians performing traditional music from a variety of cultures with special emphasis on the Middle East, or Jamal’s interactive solo program, in which he uses a wide variety of authentic instruments to acquaint students with traditional music from Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America with gongs from China, Talking Drums from Africa and various percussion from around the world. The presentation culminates with students joining Jamal on stage for an exciting jam session with an international flavor. An experience they will never forget. Photo by John Derryberry.
