The Texas Biennial is a geographically-led, independent survey of contemporary art in Texas. The program was founded in 2005 to provide an exhibition opportunity open to all artists living and working in the state. The seventh edition of this program will take place in the fall of 2020, making the Texas Biennial the longest-running state biennial in the country. Since its beginning, the program has brought the work of over 300 artists to new audiences, springboarding many of the artists’ careers and development.

The 2020 Texas Biennial Open Call is open to artists currently living and/or working in Texas, Texas natives/expats working anywhere in the world, and artists who have produced significant work in Texas over the last three years.

Artists working in any media or discipline may apply online.

Deadline:  February 7, 2020.

-Ryan N. Dennis is the Curator and Programs Director at Project Row Houses in Houston, Texas.
-Evan Garza is a curator, writer, and the former Director of Public Art at Rice University.

There is a $20 application fee for each entry.
