Description

Laura Turon graduated with departmental honors from the University of Texas at El Paso with a BFA in studio art in drawing and graphic design, a minor in painting, and a certificate in exhibition practices. The artist is also the creator of Paradox Traveling Art (2017), an art installation project housed within a converted full-size school bus. The bus functions as an art gallery on wheels. With this project, Turon focuses on delivering art to areas with limited access to art spaces, providing art workshops and interactive art installations exhibits at schools, festivals, community centers, and public events. The project features art by Laura Turon and guest artists—- the art installation design changes about twice a year. Visitors can enter the bus and walk into an artistic environment where they become part of the art; they can either participate through community art installations, interact with the art piece, or take pictures, videos, and selfies. Some art designs present optical illusions, LED lights, sculptural elements, murals, community participation, and art workshops. The project promotes access to art in areas with limited access to museums and galleries and promotes a sense of belonging; art installation designs are also open to commissions.
