Alley Theatre
Alley Theatre broadens perspectives through education and theater experiences for young people across Texas. The Education and Community Engagement department brings professional productions directly to schools, transforming cafeterias, libraries, community centers, gyms, and auditoriums into dynamic performance spaces. These engaging performances spark imagination, support curriculum goals, and make theater an unforgettable part of the school day. Designed for accessibility, each tour features a small cast, a portable and easy-to-assemble set, and an interactive digital guide that provides educators with tools for meaningful post-performance discussions in the classroom and beyond. In addition to touring productions, Alley Theatre also offers in-classroom programs such as Staging STEM (plus), First Draft Personal Narrative, and Slam Poetry, along with evidence-based professional development opportunities for educators. The Alley's statewide initiative, TYPE (Texas Young Playwrights Exchange), expands access even further through live or virtual engagement with students throughout Texas. Photo by Tasha Gorel.
