Lewisville Grand Theater Rotating Sculpture Program

The City of Lewisville, Texas is seeking artwork submissions from artists who wish to exhibit outdoor sculptures as part of a rotating sculpture program in the courtyard of the Lewisville Grand Theater.

The Lewisville Grand Theater is a cultural beacon for Old Town Lewisville featuring performing and visual arts for all ages. The City of Lewisville implemented a Public Art Master Plan in 2018 that was updated in 2024, which included the introduction of a rotating sculpture program to be featured in the courtyard of the Lewisville Grand Theater, a long under-used space. A bare and uninviting space is currently under renovation that will include better lighting, bench seating, new hardscape, native plants and trees, a turf space in the center, and the addition of six grated pads for sculpture. Construction is anticipated to be completed April 2026.

The City of Lewisville Arts Advisory Board seeks sculptures that are appropriate for public viewing and support the family-friendly atmosphere of the City of Lewisville. All sculptures must be family appropriate and pose no risk to public safety. Sculptures must be made of materials that can withstand the harsh Texas weather and require no maintenance by the City of Lewisville.

For this inaugural year of the program, the Arts Advisory Board will select three sculptures for a two-year exhibition opportunity and up to three sculptures for a one-year exhibition opportunity.

The City of Lewisville will award a $2,000 honorarium for each sculpture selected for the two-year term by the Board for the installation, exhibition, and removal of the artwork. There will be a $1,500 honorarium offered for the one-year term selections. Artists may note at the time of application if they are interested in one-year, two-year, or both length terms.

Sculptures will remain under the artist’s ownership, loaned to the City of Lewisville. The artwork may be for sale for the duration of the exhibit with a 20% commission collected by the City of Lewisville if sold during its installation. It is preferred that sold artwork remains in the exhibition for the contracted time, but review and consideration for approval of suitable alternative work can be requested. The artist or artist representative is responsible for all details of the sales transaction and commission payment due to the City. The Artist is also responsible for arranging pick up of any sold work and installation of approved replacement with minimal support from the City.

This program is open to regional artists only, in the TX-OK-AR-LA region within reasonable driving distance to Lewisville, TX. The artist is responsible for all artwork transport, drop-off and pick-up, no additional travel or shipping funds are available.

The Festival brings together a highly engaged crowd of woodworkers, cabinet makers, influencers and wood enthusiasts who are excited to see tools, techniques and products they can use in their own shop. It’s a fun, hands-on, conversation-driven event, not your traditional trade show. The event will be held in downtown Austin on September 25th-27th, 2026 at the Palmer Events Center.

Exhibitors love it because they can demo products, talk directly with real buyers, eat a delicious taco and build long-term brand awareness within the woodworking community.

Do you remember going to the movie theater? The smell of freshly popped popcorn, the funky animation prior to the trailers,
the red velvet cushions that you sink into; it is in that moment you are completely transported away from the real world and into another realm.
That nostalgia for the cinema has driven this collaboration between FLATS and the Houston Cinema Arts Society for 4 years running.
We’re showcasing Texas filmmakers through the lens of the analog. The Irreplicable quality of celluloid is surging in major motion pictures,
and we want to shine a spotlight on the traditional formats that started the magic of movies.
We hope our showcase is just the beginning – and that it continues to grow as the community of Texas artists rediscovers an enthusiasm
for analog film. Join us as this celebration of creative storytelling develops…the old-fashioned way!
Rules & Terms:

  1. There is no minimum film length, but submissions should be no longer than 15 minutes.
  2. Films must be shot on analog formats; VHS, super 16, super 8, or 35mm. They must also be formatted and submitted digitally.
  3. Call is open to artists of all ages.
  4. Artists must be based in the State of Texas, or have meaningful ties to Texas.
  5. Submissions must be made within the last two (2) years.
  6. Call is open to any genre (animation, documentary, experimental, fiction, etc.).
  7. Multiple submissions from one filmmaker or production company will not be accepted.
  8. The applicant holds the sole responsibility of copyright clearance of any copyrighted material in the film. Films including unauthorized copyrighted material are ineligible.

AURORA invites artists to submit proposals for the Video Art Night 2026 program, taking place on the evening of April 17, 2026 at the AT&T Discovery District in Dallas, during a one-night free public art event that will transform the outdoor site.

Regional and national artists and collectives, aged 18 and above, are invited to propose their moving image artworks for the opportunity to be included in the 2026 VAN program.

We welcome innovative proposals that respond to our uncertain present marked by ecological, technological, and socio-political transformations. Submitted artworks should explore states of metamorphosis and in-betweenness, considering what we release, what we carry forward, and how we move through change. We’re particularly interested in works that engage with Dallas’s ongoing urban and ecological transformation and its impact on various communities.

Artists should propose video artworks to be projected onto walls that are in vertical format, contributing to an immersive group exhibition that will offer visitors a chance to experience art in an unconventional setting.

Submission deadline: January 30th, 2026 at 11:59 PM CST.

Submit your proposal through this form: https://bit.ly/VAN2026opencall.
