Main Street Theater
Main Street Theater (MST) is Houston's oldest and largest theater for youth, reaching over 100,000 children each season through their performances at the Midtown Arts and Theater Center Houston (MATCH) and through statewide touring. Recognized by American Theatre Magazine as one of the top 20 theaters for young audiences in the country, MST presents a repertory based on the most relevant and challenging literature for youth. MST began touring decades ago to reach schools who could not travel to Houston. Main Street regularly tours to Abilene, Bryan, Yoakum, Roma, Bastrop, Austin, and many more. Each season the tour is a new title appropriate for elementary age children; recent tours include Elephant and Piggie's "We are in a Play!," Click, Clack Moo, Cows That Type, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, and Dragons Love Tacos. Each school receives free education materials in English and Spanish to supplement the learning experience. Main Street Theater also offers 45 minute Character Visits for booking in which a title character from one of MST's productions presents a mini-interactive performance. Photo by Ricornel Productions.
