Description
Austin-based artist Mobley is a one-man tour de force both on and off the stage. He’s a songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, visual artist, filmmaker, and a charismatic frontman with a reputation for kinetic live shows. His music has been featured in films, theater, and television, and he’s played hundreds of tour dates across the US and internationally, to broad acclaim. Mobley has also made a name for himself as an innovator in live show production. He lectures and consults on unique aspects of his show. These include the original instruments he designs and builds (for instance, his ‘human drum machine’ that harnesses capacitive touch sensors to enable him to play audience members’ hands like an electronic drum), as well as his novel use of various technologies (looping, MIDI sequencing, triggering, etc.) to produce a mesmerizing multimedia experience, despite being the only performer on stage. Altogether his talents as both artist and inventor have solidified his reputation in the industry as, according to American Songwriter, ‘a restless all-around creative who has channeled his technical and artistic skills into a one-man, perpetual-motion stage show.’ Photo by Jacob Weber.
