Natyanjali Kuchipudi Dance School

Natyanjali Kuchipudi Dance School, under the direction of Srilatha Suri, is a Kuchipudi dance institution and performing ensemble based in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Natyanjali is dedicated to preserving, propagating, and presenting Kuchipudi, one of India’s major classical dance-theater traditions—as a vehicle for artistic discovery, cultural education, and community engagement. Kuchipudi originated in ancient temple rituals and the traveling Bhagavatha Mela storytelling tradition, integrating classical scriptures, Carnatic music, expressive abhinaya, and dramatic narrative. Natyanjali's work spans traditional repertoire and contemporary thematic productions while remaining firmly rooted in the form's codified technique. The institution presents solo concerts, ensemble works, thematic programs, and full-length dance dramas, offered with live or recorded music and adaptable to diverse venues, audiences, and time frames. Its educational initiatives include lecture-demonstrations and workshops introducing participants to principles from the Natya Shastra, dance anatomy, foundational movement vocabulary, expressive storytelling and the cultural and historical contexts of Kuchipudi. Repertoire productions include Kalyana Srinivasam, The Moon and the Water Lily, Meera (the life of the poet-saint), the traditional Kuchipudi Margam, and original works exploring women's empowerment.
