Rudi Harst
"Ready or Not" is Rudi Harst's most recent and successful one-man theatrical piece exploring aging in a youth-oriented culture through original songs, storytelling, humor, and audience participation. Rudi has used words and music to uplift people since childhood. Conceived in Borneo and born in the Netherlands, his Indonesian-Dutch family immigrated to South Texas at age five and he became a naturalized US citizen at thirteen. Raised on the American Dream with a passion for learning, inclusivity, and creative expression, his work reflects an optimistic global perspective and a deep desire to connect people across cultures and generations. Naturally shy but gifted with a clear tenor voice, Rudi discovered early that the stage was a safe space to be. Singing solos in first grade led to the lead role in Amahl and the Night Visitors. After watching the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964, he picked up a guitar and never looked back, performing professionally for 50 years. Rudi earned a BA in psychology from Trinity University and continued independent study in psychology, spirituality, movement, and performance art touring the US and Europe. He has released nine albums and authored Hurry Slowly, later adapted into a theatrical production. Photo by JoJo Dancer Photography.
