Description
If you’ve seen more than a handful of shows in Texas, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve already seen most, if not all, of the musicians who make up the South Austin Moonlighters. These guys have earned their place among the elite of Austin’s burgeoning music scene and have played key roles in bands like Fastball, Monte Montgomery, the Whiskey Sisters, Stonehoney, and Jimmy LaFave, to name just a few on a long, long list. They are national Americana recording artists, coming in at #61 on the Americana charts and #1 on the Alternative Country Radio Report in 2019, and #69 on the new release ‘From Here to Home’ in 2023. Precise vocal harmonies are an important part of the Moonlighters; signature sound, alongside what Matt Blackett of Guitar Player Magazine called gritty blues, …funk, R&B, pop, rock, and Andrew Conroy of Austin’s KUTX described as a band that blends blues, Americana, soul, rock, and country, who can flip the switch from slow melodic country to gravelly rocking blues without a hitch. The South Austin Moonlighters are regulars in most of the finer honky-tonks, listening rooms, and venues throughout Texas and beyond. Photo by Mark Del Castillo.
