South Austin Moonlighters

If you have seen more than a handful of shows in Texas, you have likely encountered the musicians who comprise the South Austin Moonlighters. This "true Americana" ensemble features seasoned professionals who have collaborated with elite outfits like Fastball, Monte Montgomery, and Jimmy LaFave. Originally formed in 2011 as a collaborative residency at the Saxon Pub, the band evolved into a robust creative engine—often referred to as their "Sweet Machine"—defined by organic four-part vocal harmonies and a soulful blend of blues, rock, and country. With chart-topping albums like Travel Light and the Steve Berlin-produced From Here to Home (2023), they have emerged as definitive architects of the contemporary Austin music scene. Highly adaptable for diverse venues, the group performs as a full electric band or in intimate solo and duo configurations featuring principal songwriters Chris Beall and/or Lonnie Trevino Jr. In 2025 and 2026, the group solidified its status as a premier export of Texas roots music, successfully scaling its performances to major stages across Germany and the United Kingdom.
