Description
Sue Foley is a virtual triple threat as a lead guitarist, singer and songwriter. Foley spent her early years in Austin, TX recording for the esteemed record label Antone’s. Foley tours extensively worldwide with her trio band and as a solo acoustic artist. Whether it’s a festival audience of 10,000, an intimate listening room gathering, or delivering her solo show about female pioneering guitar women to a university classroom, her breadth of knowledge and technique are unmatched. Workshops on Texas blues history, women in guitar, songwriting, and guitar techniques are also offered by Foley. Examples include the world music workshop with Vieux Farka Toure and Sona Jobarteh at the Edmonton Folk Festival, and her solo acoustic presentation at the Hawaii Pacific University. A triple Blues Music Award winner ‘Traditional Blues Female Artist (Koko Taylor Award)’ 2023/22/20, her album Pinky’s Blues won ‘Best Traditional Blues Album’ at the 2022 Blues Music Awards. Named 2023 Austin Music Awards ‘Guitarist of the Year’ and ‘Blues Act of the Year,’ Foley has shared the stage with greats like B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Jimmie Vaughan and Billy F. Gibbons. Her shows combine music from her thirteen-album catalog including Pinky’s Blues, and One Guitar Woman. Photo by Scott Doubt Photography.
