New Grants Approved
On September 3, TCA Commissioners approved funding of 1,143 grants in the first funding round for fiscal year 2027. The grants total over $17 million and will go to nonprofits and units of government in 131 Texas cities. The full list of fiscal year 2027 grants is here.

On September 3, TCA Commissioners also approved the designation of four new cultural districts: the Edinburg Arts District, Galveston African American Cultural Heritage District, Lufkin Cultural District, and Mitte Cultural District in Brownsville. Congratulations!

About LHUCA:
LHUCA is a non-profit center for the visual, performing and literary arts located in the heart of the Lubbock Cultural District. This year, we celebrated our 29th anniversary as an arts organization. Our mission is to cultivate and celebrate all the arts by inspiring creativity and engaging with the community. LHUCA’s main building houses four contemporary art galleries that are free and open to the public. Concert, dance, theatrical and film programs are held in our 159-seat Firehouse Theatre. In addition, our campus includes an education building, plaza, multipurpose building, and clay studio. Each year, over 70,000 people benefit from LHUCA’s programs and services.
Job Duties:
Develop, manage, and oversee a comprehensive fundraising plan that secures financial support and promotes LHUCA. Works with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors to cultivate and engage new and current donors, including corporations, businesses, and individuals. Responsible for managing the capital campaign, annual membership campaign, and fundraisers including the LHUCA Gala.
● Design and maintain a comprehensive development plan
● Develop and execute fundraising events including Gala
● Reach capital campaign fundraising goals
● Plan and implement the annual membership campaign
● Build donor base by engaging new donors
● Make corporate asks for capital campaign, programs, and event support
● Utilize Bloomerang and Quickbooks to create fundraising pages, invoice donors, track donations, generate accounting reports, and manage campaigns
● Ensure all contributions are acknowledged and sponsor benefit packages are met
● Work with Board of Directors and Development Committee on fundraising efforts
● Supervise assigned staff including marketing
● Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Our ideal candidate is a self-starter who loves people, planning, and problem solving. Fundraising experience and excellent customer service skills are a must. A passion for non-profits and/or the arts is a plus. This person should thrive in a fast paced, collaborative work environment.
● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in nonprofit, development, alumni relations, marketing, public relations, sales, or similar work.
● Proven success in fundraising, sales, and/or development
● Experience running large-scale fundraising events
● Experience making corporate and individual asks
● Experience implementing membership or similar programs
● Familiar with donor or customer management software (any platform) and Excel
● Strong verbal and written communication skills
● Excellent customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications:
● Non-profit experience including grants management
● Experience leading capital campaigns
● Leadership or personnel management experience
● Knowledge of or passion for the arts
Compensation:
Base salary range $55,000 - $60,000 (depending on experience) with a performance based incentive of up to 20% for exceeding fundraising targets. Benefits package includes vacation
and sick pay, health insurance, and employer match retirement plan.

You will provide essential operational and administrative support to our development team. You will ensure the accurate management of donor data, support grant submission processes, and maintain development systems that sustain institutional fundraising.
You Will:
- Work with the Director of Development to document our fundraising goals.
- Assist the Grant Writer with proposal assembly, attachments, budgets, and submission portals.
- Prepare and maintain standard organizational materials for grant applications, including boilerplate language, financial documents, and board/staff lists.
- Facilitate administrative activities required to prospect new philanthropic relationships.
- Support philanthropic cultivation and stewardship plans in tandem with the Fundraising Plan.
- Conduct prospect research and support administrative activities related to identifying new philanthropic opportunities.
- Maintain accurate donor and funder records, task management software, and the Development division calendar
- Track and maintain the Annual Fund Development Plan and the Strategic Plan goals as they pertain to fundraising and development
Requirements
You Have: - 1+ years of administrative, nonprofit, or related professional experience.
- Experience working with CRM or database systems; familiarity with Salesforce.
- Experience preparing structured written materials such as proposals, reports, or formal correspondence.
- Experience supporting projects with multiple required components.
- Maintain organized digital records and documentation systems.
- Interest in or familiarity with the arts and cultural sector.
Working Conditions: You will perform sedentary work in a remote office environment, requiring extended periods of computer use and regular use of standard office equipment. You will follow established annual fundraising plans but requires flexibility to adjust priorities and manage time-sensitive projects. We may require occasional overtime to meet grant submission deadlines and other critical development timelines.

Job Description
A Finance Associate at Arts FMS reports to one of Arts FMS’s Senior or Lead Finance Consultants. The Finance Associate is a flexible, industrious, and detail-oriented team member, who will support their colleagues in serving three to ten clients. Depending on the relationship with the client, the Finance Associate may be responsible for payroll, bill pay, and bank feed maintenance. They will complete month close tasks as well as day-to-day operational finance tasks. The Finance Associate needs to be judicious about their time to manage numerous projects and deadlines with care and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities for Arts FMS
Effectively drive their projects to completion; this includes reviewing their own work and that of a Finance Associate or Assistant on an ongoing basis.
Deliver excellent client service through ongoing verbal and written communication, and analysis of the client’s needs.
Handle multiple time-sensitive priorities that require in-depth knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting, reporting, and compliance.
Utilize Excel and QuickBooks Online.
Key Responsibilities in working for Arts FMS Clients
Own the accounts payable process, payroll processing, and ongoing bank feed maintenance for assigned clients.
Review and clear client bank feeds at least weekly to ensure transactions are current and accurately recorded.
Complete month-end close responsibilities by deadlines established by the Project Owner, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Monitor and respond to client requests in Airtable, resolving assigned items on a timely basis.
Perform day-to-day operational accounting functions, including transaction processing, reconciliations, and financial record maintenance.
Maintain a high standard of accuracy, ensuring financial data is complete, timely, and reliable.
Verify that all transactions include appropriate supporting documentation and comply with internal documentation standards.
Identify discrepancies or issues proactively and communicate them promptly to the Project Owner.
Build trusted relationships with clients by providing responsive, professional service and clear communication.
Qualifications
1-5 years of nonprofit accounting, managing an organization’s finances, preferably in the arts sector.
Dedication to delivering excellent client service and building strong external relationships with clients through mostly virtual communication channels.
Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in order to manage competing priorities and at times, shifting portfolios.
Self-assurance to work proactively and confidence to ask for guidance or support, when needed.
Exceptional organizational skills.
Strong communication skills.
Expertise in Excel and QuickBooks Online.
A genuine interest in the performing and/or visual arts.
Please note: All candidates must have experience working directly in a finance department.
Compensation
The salary for this position is $60,000-70,000. Arts FMS provides comprehensive benefits, including providing health, dental, vision, long and short-term disability, and company-paid life insurance. Employees have access to a 401k plan with a company match, a flexible spending account, and paid time off.
Arts FMS is a fully remote company. The Finance Associate role is a full-time position that works within the company’s core working hours from 9am-6pm Eastern and is based in the United States.

Art Opportunities
Named for the Namingha family, who believe deeply in giving back to the community by aiding and nurturing developing artists, the Namingha Institute celebrates diverse artistry. Supported in part by the Philip M. Smith Trust, this annual residency provides selected artists with a challenging and stimulating environment to explore their artistic interests.
Throughout the two-week residency, students participate in classes with the master artists on the Museum of Northern Arizona campus. They tour MNA’s Easton Collection Center and pull inspiration from the beauty and diversity of the Colorado Plateau. Residents stay in rustic cabins near the studio and are provided a $1,500 stipend.

Individual artists and nonprofit arts organizations in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, and the Native Nations that share this geography can now apply for grants of up to $15,000 to create and present new artistic work through the Mid-America Arts Alliance (M-AAA) Artistic Innovations grant program.
New this year, individual artists are not required to provide matching funds, making the full grant amount available without the need to secure additional support. Artistic Innovations Grants for Individual Artists are made possible through M-AAA’s strategic reinvestment of a gift from Yield Giving.
Nonprofit arts organizations may also apply for grants of up to $15,000. Nonprofit arts organization grants continue with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Since 2012, Artistic Innovations has awarded more than $2 million to support the creation of new art and bring new artistic experiences to audiences throughout the region.

The 42nd Annual International Exhibition is a juried visual art competition organized by the Department of Art and Art History at The University of Texas at Tyler and displayed at the university’s Meadows Gallery. Internationally known artists, curators, and scholars have served as jurors selecting works for exhibition created by some of the best contemporary artists working today. The department purchases three to six works from the exhibition each year; purchased works are added to our permanent collection. The permanent collection serves as an educational teaching resource; much of the permanent collection is exhibited throughout the UT Tyler main campus.
JUROR : Diana Roberts
Diana Roberts is an arts writer, curator, and arts administrator in San Antonio, Texas. She holds a BA in Music from the University of Texas at Austin and an MA in Art History and Criticism from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Over the past 30 years she has worked with numerous artists, musicians, nonprofit arts organizations, galleries, museums, and corporate collections around the state. As Membership and Administrative Coordinator for the Texas Sculpture Group since 2017, Roberts edited the 2025 publication, Contemporary Texas Sculpture: Artists of the Texas Sculpture Group.
In addition to independent curatorial projects, Roberts has been Director of The Center for Spirituality and the Arts, Curator of the Airport Art Spaces at SA International Airport, Coordinator for the UTSA Satellite Space, and Gallery Director for Galeria Ortiz Contemporary and the Art Gallery at Musical Bridges Around the World. She has juried exhibitions for the Texas Sculpture Group, the Southwest School of Art, the Friends of Dard Hunter, the San Antonio Art League Museum, and the Bountiful Bowl Pottery Fair in Rockport, Texas. As an arts writer, Roberts has contributed essays for numerous catalogues and other publications, including Ceramics Monthly, Sculpture Magazine, Art News, the Langdon Review of the Arts in Texas, ArtLies, San Antonio Magazine, Voices of Art, and the SA Current.
AWARDS
Several purchase awards will be made; purchased works will be added to the University of Texas at Tyler Department of Art and Art History’s permanent collection.
ENTRY AND FEES
This exhibition will be juried from digital media. Artists may submit up to three works for consideration for the non-refundable fee of $35. Entries must be submitted via CaFE (Call for Entry)
ELIGIBILITY
This competition is open to any artist who is over the age of 18, working in two-dimensional media. Paintings, drawings, prints, fiber art, and photographs created in the last three years are welcome.
